Copyright Infringement Cases 2019

Most copyright infringement cases are filed in the Federal Court of Canada. Some are also filed in provincial Superior Courts and Small Claims Courts.

The SOCAN cases are mostly against bars and restaurants that fail to buy a SOCAN license for public performance. Most of these cases settle or result in default judgments for a lot more than what a SOCAN license would cost.
